Surfing the net, I came across this famous quote
“The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The next best time is now.”
Yes, it is just now when you can plant a life, a plant, which will grow up into a tree. A tree, which will provide shade, fruit, and much more! I often wonder, does it make sense that all of the just plant a tree, carry out that awareness campaign on the International Mother Earth Day?
Is it really sufficient?
Exactly, NOT! No doubt it is good to join hands to celebrate our planet. But just one day of the year is really not a cool idea. Earth and its ecosystems are our responsibility. And we need to nurture it. So, here are 7 simple ideas you can adapt and contribute to Mother Earth every second day.
Plant trees whenever you get a chance
Don’t wait for the next Earth Day to arrive. You can plant it today itself. And you know there are many people who are already enrolling actively in this moment. Kapil Sharma, a software engineer from Chhattisgarh has planted over 35,000 saplings and organized numerous plantation drives.
Similarly, the renowned, Saint Dr. Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has set highest record of planting 20, 77,302 trees in just one hour. And this is something he has been repeating throughout the years. You can check out from his twitter account.
Turn off the tap
It is one of the simplest things you can start with. It might not make a big difference straight away, but in long term, it will help out for sure. So, just turn off the tap while you’re brushing your teeth, or you’re doing something good.
Got a leaky toilet? Stop this wastage of water every day and get it repaired as soon as possible.
Leave your car at home every second day
Want to reduce CO2 emissions and save the planet? This can be a great idea. Do you know staying off the road just two days a week can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by an average of 1,590 pounds per year?
Choose walk or ride your bike
You know that walking is good for you. But do you know it is beneficial for the planet too? So, get, set and go on your bike or walk to reduce greenhouse gases. Plus, you will be able to burn some extra calories and improve your health.
In a survey, it was found that if an office building of 7,000 workers recycled all of its office paper waste for a year this would account for taking almost 400 cars off the road. Isn’t it a superb idea? Begin it at home, office, school, and elsewhere.
Prepare your compost
Just think about how much waste you make in a year. Start reducing the amount of solid waste, and you can empty some space in landfills. It will help save your taxes and the compost makes a great natural fertilizer.
Switch to CFLs
The best thing about Compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) is that they last 10 times longer than a standard bulb. And yes, they use at least two-thirds less energy. It is surely a beneficial addition to your home and Earth, altogether.
So, now you have a list of options to choose from and add your contribution to saving the earth. Remember, it only takes a second to be environmentally conscious. Go green, go safely!
